In 2004 Neha moved to Mumbai with his brother Tony Kakkar who is also a singer. In 2006, she auditioned for Indian Idol and she was eliminated early in the show.

In 2008 her career begins where hs relaunched her debut album Neha The Rockstar at that time she recorded a music album Romeo Juliet which was composed by her brother Tony Kakkar. In the same year, she sang Hai Rama from Meeabai Not Out along with Sukhwinder Singh.

In 2009, she featured in A.R Rahman’s composition the theme song of Blue. Also, she lent her voice for the title track of the Hindi language soap opera Na Aana Is Des Laado.
